Yesterday I stepped outside the gym and my breath caught (for context, my gym sits in the middle of a cornfield). The lone shed next door had somehow changed. Its whitewashed walls rose up from the snow-covered earth on a backdrop of dormant oaks and dead corn. Then I saw it. Someone had boarded up its small, high windows and painted them red.
Now, I’m sure the landowners are wonderful people, but something happened in that shed. I don’t know what yet, but I recorded the image in a notebook so that one day I can investigate.
Images like this don’t hit me often, and I consider them a sort of gift. Can you think of a recent image that sparked your imagination? I’d love to hear about it.
